Welcome to another week and another
opportunity to continue moving from Theory → Practice → Mastery together.
Actually, let’s take a moment to do a quick recap of each of those pieces:
Theory (or Wisdom) = Our curriculum of Ancient Wisdom + Modern Science. (The Mastery Series + PhilosophersNotes + Optimize +1s + 101s)
Practice = Our Fundamental habits around eating, moving, sleeping, breathing, focusing, celebrating, and prospering. (We'll continue to highlight a different Practice each week, constantly refining and going deeper on the behaviors that are foundational to Optimizing.)
Mastery = Enjoying each step of the journey that has no final destination. (We’ll never get “there!”)
Together = Opportunities to connect one-on-one with our Heroic Buddies and as a group via Live Coaching calls.

With that, I’m excited to introduce another Fundamental Practice: Sleep,
which we’ll be operationalizing with a Digital Sunset.
As with all of the Fundamental Practices, if you’d like to earn an Official Heroic Coach Certification, once a new behavior is introduced you’ll need to complete that behavior 5/7 days per week going forward.
(Of course, if you’re not interested in earning a Certification, ALL GOOD! We still encourage you to Practice these behaviors as often as possible, as it’s only by DOING these things that we experience their benefits.)
📱Pro-Tip: You can add the "Digital Sunset" target to your Energy Protocol in the Heroic App to track your success in practicing this fundamental consistently.

time... Fundamental Practice: Sleep = Digital Sunset We’ll walk you through the details in Module IV: Carpe Diem - Part 2: The PM Bookend. The quick version is that one hour before you’d like to be asleep, you put stimulating technology away for the night. You get to define the details of how (off and in the closet, in airplane mode with no wifi, meditation + kindle apps only, zero technology period, etc.) and when, but whatever your particular Digital Sunset protocol looks like—do it!
I’ll repeat this line again just in case you missed it: Starting this week, if you’d like to earn an Official Heroic Coach certification,
you’ll need to complete a Digital Sunset 5/7 days per week.
Note: the Big 3 (x2) Carpe Diem Journal Practice was the first Fundamental we introduced. Doing this practice or using the Heroic App is how we’re operationalizing our Fundamental of Prosper. The details on why that’s our Fundamental Practice for Prospering will come later in the program. For now, how’s your consistency on that so
far?!
Note2: There are seven total Fundamentals you’ll be practicing 5/7 days per week by the end of the program if you’d like to earn a Certification. While we’ve already introduced a few of them and encouraged you to Practice them consistently (for example, gratitude and meditation), the only two you’re officially responsible for completing at this point is the Heroic Big 3 Process via the Heroic App (or the Carpe Diem Journal) and (starting this week,) a Digital Sunset.
