Heroic Community!!

It’s been a busy few weeks.

As you may recall, we recently announced a very exciting milestone for our Heroic Public Benefit Corporation.

As I said in that email…

"From Day 1, Heroic has been built by our community, for our community. Together, we’re creating a movement that helps people unlock their full potential—so we can help create a more noble and virtuous world. …

To fuel the next phase of our growth into a leading company in applied self-development, we have officially opened our $10.1M Series A round of funding.

As a Public Benefit Corporation, we have a fiduciary responsibility to serve all of our stakeholders—not just our investors, but our entire community, and the world—which is why we’re excited to share our vision with all of you.

And, if you are an accredited investor, we’d love to invite you to consider joining us as a Heroic investor in our Series A!"

I’m excited to give you a quick update today.

I plan to send you a series of emails over the next several days to get you up to speed on our thinking and our progress with the $10.1M Series A.

These updates will include our vision for Heroic Quests—which we believe will play a key role in helping people solve their biggest challenges and show up as their best in service to something bigger than themselves.

I am also excited to share our new “Imagine the world…” video that begins with the state of our current reality and the overview of Heroic Education—highlighting how we intend to train the Heroes in high school today who will be running the world in 2051.

To be explicit…

My intention with this series of emails I’m sending to you—our Heroic community—is twofold.

First, I want you to be fired up about what we’re creating together. 🔥

Second, if you are an accredited investor, I want to invite you to consider joining our Series A! We’d be honored to have your additional support. 🙌  (👉 Let us know here!)

I know you’re busy, so I’ll keep these notes as brief as I can—and I hope you appreciate the insights into how we’re approaching this next phase. 🙏

Let’s get to work.

So…

After a couple of months getting all the legal work done to open the round, we’re now in the process of bringing in the first $3M+ of our $10.1M round—hitting my Phase I target faster than I expected.

Important note: Nearly ALL of that $3M is from our existing Reg D investors—many of whom have decided to follow Marty Bicknell and Matt McCall’s lead and double down on their investment.

I’m excited to lean into our other prospective channels in Phase II as we strive to move from $2.5M to $5.1M then $7.5M then $10.1M!! 🎯!!

Here’s what one of our big investors, Michael Cleveland, shared about why he doubled down on his already significant investment:

“I first invested in Heroic because I believed in Brian’s vision, the mission, and the potential for real impact.

Now, after seeing the progress, the traction, and the clarity of execution, doubling down was an easy decision.

The opportunity is massive, the demand is real, and Brian has begun assembling a team with the conviction and desire to execute at a world-class level.

What excites me most is the purposeful focus on driving real transformation and helping people solve the most significant challenges in their lives. That kind of impact, paired with an ambitious and disciplined growth strategy, is why I’m thrilled to continue backing Heroic.”

As I typed that, I thought of what another Michael had to say—Michael Ward.

Michael is one of my oldest friends. We went to UCLA together 30 years ago.

He was at the Austin investor meeting (check out the Zoom recording if you haven’t yet) and asked a question about why we don’t do high-ticket events like Tony Robbins. My answer to that led another investor to double down. (You can see that clip at 00:22:34 in the Part 2: Q&A video on the investor portal.)

Here’s what Michael shared:

“The world doesn’t change by chance. The world changes when enough courageous individuals step up, commit, and act, refusing to settle for less.

Brian Johnson isn’t just another entrepreneur. His integrity, his soul force, and his track record of executing at the highest level make Heroic an investment that speaks for itself. That’s why I invested the first time. And it’s part of the reason why I am investing again.

But let’s talk about the real reason this matters.

Right now, we are in winter. The world is struggling. But here’s the thing about winter – it doesn’t last forever. Spring is coming. The only question is: Who’s going to lead us there?

51/2051.

This isn’t just Brian’s moonshot – it’s a call to action. A world where 51% of humanity is truly flourishing by 2051 won’t happen on its own. It will only be possible when enough individuals step up, own their potential, and commit to making a difference in their own unique way.

For me, that means doubling down on my investment in Heroic. Because this mission isn’t just important…it’s necessary. And when you find a team like Brian, Alexandra, and the incredible people behind Heroic, you don’t just watch. You step up, commit, and act.

The world transforms when courageous individuals step up, commit, and take action – not just for themselves, but for the future of us all. It starts with one, and it becomes unstoppable when many rise together, refusing to settle for anything less than a better, antifragile, and flourishing world.

So the question is: How will YOU step up?

Because that’s what heroes do.”

(Wow. I just read a draft of this to Alexandra and had tears in my eyes by the end. Bless you, Michael.)

This is already longer than I planned, but there are a few more things I want to share while I have you.

One of the things I love about raising money is that it FORCES me to clarify our vision and our strategy to make it happen.

Another thing I love about this particular fundraising is that I believe we are at a very special moment in our evolution—with an opportunity to revisit our vision with the resources to most powerfully take our next steps in fulfilling our Mission.

Michael (Balchan!) and I have been obsessing about our core flywheel and how we will most powerfully (and efficiently!) help people move from theory to practice to mastery while giving the best to the most for the least while creating an enduringly great company that fulfills our mission.

Another significant event over the last few weeks that I have been discussing in my Elite coaching calls is the tragic loss of a member of our community who ended his own life.

This was both heartbreaking and catalyzing. I wept as I scrolled through his social posts—seeing pictures of him and his daughter holding a copy of Areté and reading about his struggles with mental health in the preceding years.

I immediately connected with his Elite buddy. I’ve seen his Oura scores and I know what he was eating.

As Marsha Linehan says, the highest form of compassion is to be skilled at helping people reduce their suffering.

It’s hard to put into words (and I’m typing this through tears in my eyes) just how fiercely committed I am to becoming more skilled at helping people reduce their suffering—whether that’s depression, anxiety, obesity, addiction, burnout, parenting or relationship challenges or any/all of the things we all struggle with.

We have already been obsessed about getting better at helping real people solve real problems.

This tragic loss has catalyzed this focus and is a big reason why we will be launching Heroic Quests and doing everything we can to be the absolute best we can be at moving from information to transformation as we meet people where they’re at and give them what they need.

I have done a LOT of research on the state of our mental health. The numbers are staggering.

I’ve also had a LOT of chats with investors about this which has made me even more sensitive to the ubiquity of suffering—from an investor who lost their 18-year-old son to suicide a couple years ago to another whose son is currently suffering to another whose mother ended her own life.

We have so much work to do.

It’s an honor to do it with you.

Thank you for your support.

More soon.

Day 1. All in.

Let’s go.
